Sweet/Sour Meatballs
Cocktail Meatballs
Ingredients
| 1 1/2 | pounds | finely ground round
| | 1/2 | cup | bread or cracker crumbs
| | 1 | | egg
| | 1 | | onion finely chopped
| | 1/2 | teaspoons | pepper
| | 2 | teaspoons | salt
| | 2 | teaspoons | ground allspice
| | 1 | cup | water (approximately)
| | | | few drops tobasco |
Mix all together, form small balls and roll in flour. Brown in small amount of oil in skillet.
Sauce: Heat together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup madiera wine or white sweet sauterne., 1 Tablespoon soy sauce and 1/2 green pepper - sliced.
Bring to boil and add 1/2 T. cornstarch mixed with a little cold water. Before serving, add 1/2 Tablespoon chopped imported crystalized ginger and 1/2 cup well drained pineapple chunks. Pour over meatballs and serve.
Appetizer serves 20 people.
