Sweet/Sour Meatballs
Cocktail Meatballs
 

Ingredients
1 1/2poundsfinely ground round
1/2cupbread or cracker crumbs
1egg
1onion finely chopped
1/2teaspoonspepper
2teaspoonssalt
2teaspoonsground allspice
1cupwater (approximately)
few drops tobasco


Mix all together, form small balls and roll in flour. Brown in small amount of oil in skillet.
 
Sauce: Heat together 1/2 cup sugar, 1/2 cup vinegar, 1/4 cup madiera wine or white sweet sauterne., 1 Tablespoon soy sauce and 1/2 green pepper - sliced. Bring to boil and add 1/2 T. cornstarch mixed with a little cold water. Before serving, add 1/2 Tablespoon chopped imported crystalized ginger and 1/2 cup well drained pineapple chunks. Pour over meatballs and serve. Appetizer serves 20 people.
